On-Page SEO Ranking Factors: True or False? [Infographic]

Search Engine Optimization

I'm going to show you what on-page SEO ranking factors are true or false. That way you can spend your time optimizing the right areas of your page and avoiding all too common errors that can cripple your SEO.

You may know that Google has over 200 ranking factors in its ranking algorithm. It can get really frustrating and confusing sorting out the SEO facts from the SEO myths.

I know from my own experience there is a lot of conflicting information out there. You can take one SEO course and the information in it will conflict with the other one you took the week before (true story). All the while you're just trying to get higher rankings while avoiding a google penalty.

Concrete and Probable Positive Ranking Factors

Some positive ranking factors we know of include putting your keyword in your URL, title tag, and alt text. As well as distributing page authority through internal links (but not too many on one page), mobile responsiveness, use of HTTPS (SSL), and partial search phrase match.

Concrete and Probable Negative Ranking Factors

Avoid these factors that are known to have a negative impact on your on-page SEO:

  • Redirected internal links
  • slow website speed
  • too many external links
  • poor domain reputation
  • keyword dilution
  • high body keyword density

Those are some, but not all, of the most impactful ranking factors. You'll have to read the infographic below to get the rest.

One thing to remember is that on-page SEO is simply one piece of the puzzle.
